We are committed to transparency — all data is stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to any external server.
1 What data we collect
We adhere to the "minimum necessary" principle. All data is stored locally in your browser using Chrome's secure storage API and is never sent to any external server.

To provide a convenient single sign-on experience and avoid requiring you to log in again within the extension when you are already logged into the web application, the Extension reads your login session cookie from olikeimport.com. Specifically:

🔐 Permission usage disclosure:
- activeTab and tabs: Used to obtain the URL and title of the product page you are currently browsing, in order to auto-fill product information in the order draft. We do not read your browsing history or content from any other tabs.
- cookies: Used solely to read your login session identifier from olikeimport.com to enable Single Sign-On (SSO). We do not read cookies from any other websites, nor do we store or transmit cookie information to any third party.
- storage: Used to save your preferences and order drafts locally in your browser. All data remains on your device and never leaves it.
- host_permissions: Required for the Extension to access and read the current page URL/title on olikeimport.com (and related shopping domains) in order to pre-fill order drafts, and to read the session cookie for SSO. We do not inject scripts, modify page content, or track your browsing activity on any other websites.
🔒 Important: The Extension does not collect your name, phone number, address, credit card information, email address, or any personally identifiable information. Any data you enter (e.g., shipping address in an order draft) remains exclusively on your own device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
2 How we use data
All data processing happens entirely on your device. We use the collected data only for:
- Core functionality: Generating and editing order drafts based on the product URL and details you provide.
- Personalization: Remembering your preferences (e.g., currency, country) so you don't have to set them repeatedly.
- Single sign-on (SSO): The authentication cookie is used solely to verify your identity with the corresponding web application, allowing you to access the extension without logging in separately. This cookie is never stored, transmitted, or shared with any third party.
We do not use your data for advertising, user profiling, analytics, or any purpose beyond the core functionality described above.
3 Third‑party sharing & disclosure
The Extension does not share any user data with any third party under any circumstance. No data is sent to external servers, APIs, analytics services, or any other destination outside your browser.
The only exception is if you, as the user, manually choose to export or share an order draft via your own means (e.g., copying and pasting the draft into an email or messaging app) — in that case, the data leaves your device through your own intentional action, and we have no control over or access to that transmission.
📌 Summary: We do not operate any servers, do not collect any data remotely, and do not use any third‑party analytics or tracking services. Your data never leaves your browser unless you explicitly choose to share it yourself.
4 Data retention & your rights
Retention: All data stored locally stays on your device until you uninstall the Extension or manually clear your browser's storage for this Extension. We do not operate any external servers, so we never retain any user data remotely.
Your rights:
- Access & correction: You can view and modify your preferences and order drafts at any time within the Extension's interface.
- Deletion: You can delete all data associated with this Extension by:
- Uninstalling the Extension from your browser, or
- Clearing storage via
chrome://extensions/→ "Details" → "Clear storage", or - Using the "Reset" or "Clear data" option within the Extension settings (if available).
5 Data security
We implement the following measures to protect your data:
- All local storage uses Chrome's secure storage API, which encrypts data at rest.
- The Extension only requests the minimum necessary permissions in
manifest.jsonto perform its core function. - No data is ever transmitted over any network — all processing is performed locally in your browser.
- Authentication cookies are never stored persistently; they are read on demand and used only temporarily within the Background Service Worker, then immediately discarded.
Since no data is transmitted or stored on external servers, the risk of data breach or interception is minimized.
6 Limited Use of user data from Google APIs
⚠️ Chrome Web Store requirement:
BuyHelper's use of authentication cookies (read via the Chrome cookies API) adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically:
- Purpose: Reading authentication cookies is solely for enabling Single Sign-On (SSO) — a core feature of this Extension. This avoids requiring users to log in again within the extension when they are already logged into the web application.
- Data flow: The cookie value is temporarily read in memory, used to authenticate the user's identity via a server-side API call, and immediately discarded. It is never written to
chrome.storage, transmitted to any third party, or used for any other purpose. - Prohibited uses: We never use authentication data for advertising, personalized recommendations, creditworthiness assessment, or any purpose unrelated to SSO and the core functionality of the Extension.
7 Children's privacy
This Extension is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent and believe your child has used this Extension, please contact us and we will assist in deleting any locally stored data.
8 Updates to this policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Significant changes will be notified via the Extension or the Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use of the Extension constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
